Plato Academics prides itself on efficiency. We aim to deliver a confirmation within 24 hours of any submitted tutor request. As such, to facilitate easy communication, tutors are contacted by mobile phone through text messaging or calls regarding current assignments.
Plato Academics values reliability. We strongly urge that all tutors commit to accepted assignments upon confirmation. This helps us to maintain a strong reputation of credibility and dependability, which in turn benefits you as a tutor.
In the event that any tutor has to withdraw from a confirmed assignment, please inform us as soon as possible and at least three days in advance of the appointed first lesson. This will provide us with some time to find a suitable replacement. However, it is again strongly recommended that tutors try their best to commit to confirmed assignments.
Plato Academics rewards consistency. We recognise tutors who are dedicated and reliable. After every three successful tutoring assignments, the agent commission for the fourth assignment is reduced by half. Additionally, consistent and well-rated tutors can earn cash bonuses on top of reduced agent commissions.
Upon getting a tutor request, our coordinators will match suitable tutors to the given tutee. Suitable tutors will be contacted about the potential assignment and our coordinators will liaise with both tutors and tutee to negotiate schedule, venue and fees.
When details such as schedule, venue and fees are confirmed by both the tutee and tutor, they will each receive an official text of confirmation in a standard format. Thereafter, the tutor must commit to the confirmed assignment.
The standard agent commission stands at 50% of the total fees for the first month, unless otherwise negotiated under special circumstances (e.g. last minute tuition before PSLE) .
For example, this is how the commission will be calculated for an assignment that is $35/h, 2h per lesson and 2 lessons per week:
50% x ($70 per lesson x 8 lessons a month) = $280
The commission is paid by the tutee directly to Plato Academics, and payment is due two weeks after the first lesson. (In the example listed above, payment will be after the fourth lesson) Thereafter, tutors are to communicate directly with tutees regarding their own fee payment for the rest of their tutoring contract.
It is encouraged that tuition fees are paid to tutors through ATM transfer or bank transaction. This will allow for the transaction to be recorded. We are optimistic that tutees will be responsible, as most tutees are, but should you not receive your fees 7 days or more from the date agreed upon, please contact us so that we can get in touch with the tutee.
Your welfare is important to us. If for any reason you feel that your tutee is unreasonable or inappropriate, please contact us.
